Santa Monica’s Culinary Scene Blossoms this Spring
Award-winning cuisine abounds in Los Angeles’ beach city
Santa Monica, Calif. (April 5, 2018) — Santa Monica’s status as a leading culinary destination in Southern California will further be cemented as the city’s iconic beach history and healthy lifestyle mix at new restaurants this spring.
The latest culinary pop-up in the beachside city is Little Prince, a weekend-only brunch spot on Main Street that serves innovative favorites such as green pea pancakes and smoked salmon hash with seaweed hollandaise crispy potatoes. Located adjacent to the ocean in downtown Santa Monica, Tumbi Craft Indian Kitchen brings flavors of India to life with modern twists on such staples as lamb kabobs, dosa and Goan prawn masala. Set to open in May, The Gables, named for the city’s first beach club that opened 1926, will emphasize a market-driven menu with freshly baked goods prepared onsite in a breezy location along Wilshire Boulevard.
Just 8.3 square miles in size, Santa Monica is home to more than 400 restaurants. Many of which have received top accolades including Mèlisse, a two-star Michelin restaurant by Josiah Citrin and Dialogue, an intimate 18-seat restaurant led by James Beard award-winning chef Dave Beran. For this year’s James Beard Foundation Awards Jeremy Fox of Rustic Canyon was named a semifinalist in the Best Chef: West category while Miles Thompson of Michael’s is a semifinalist for the Rising Star Chef of the Year award.

The award-winning Downtown Farmers Market brings Southern California’s leading chefs out for the best pick of local produce each week and has long driven innovative chefs to create culinary masterpieces in the destination that infuse their own personalities.
