Information on Palisades Fire
The City of Santa Monica has issued a new EXPANDED EVACUATION ORDER for all areas north of Montana Avenue from the beach to 11th Street. Residents and visitors in this area must leave IMMEDIATELY and the area is closed to public access. In the areas where a mandatory evacuation order is in effect, an emergency order has been instituted including a curfew from sunset to sunrise.
An EVACUATION WARNING remains for all additional areas north of Montana Avenue and west of 26th Street, and this WARNING is now expanded to all areas north of Wilshire Boulevard and west of 10th Street. Residents and visitors in this area should gather essentials and prepare to leave if needed. Those who require additional time to evacuate and those with pets should leave now.
Residents and visitors are asked to avoid non-essential travel in northern portions of the city to facilitate evacuations and assist First Responders. To aid residents evacuating the area, Big Blue Bus has suspended fare collection for all riders on January 9 and Uber is providing free rides up to $40 for evacuated residents to active shelters using code “wildfire25”. High winds are anticipated to continue at least through 6 p.m. on Friday, January 10. Before traveling to our destination, please check freeway closures to ensure access as many roads are closed. The safety and well-being of residents and visitors remain our top priority and we encourage everyone in the affected areas to stay informed and follow guidance from local authorities. Evacuation maps from Cal Fire can be viewed here and a comprehensive look at the impact to the City can be found here.
