Santa Monica Businesses Are Shining Bright With ‘Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program And Seal,’ More Businesses Are Called To Participate
The free program is available to all Santa Monica businesses from hotels, retail and restaurants to offices, entrepreneurs and sole proprietors, all are encouraged to join
SANTA MONICA, Calif., (March 16, 2021) – The call is out to all Santa Monica businesses – from corporate to mom-and-pop – to participate in the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program and earn the Santa Monica Shines Assurance Seal to display their commitment to public safety during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Now that Los Angeles County has entered the state’s red tier and more sectors can offer indoor services, all local businesses are being urged to participate in the free citywide program that provides Santa Monica businesses the opportunity to follow a simple four-step Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program process at ArrowUpSantamonica.com.
“As a small business owner and member of the Pico Business Improvement District, the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program provides our business and other businesses in the neighborhood with the confidence to serve the public in a clean and safe manner,” said Sharon Town Lee, Owner of Paws and Effect Pet Spa. “Our focus is on both pets and their people to make sure we meet their needs and expectations throughout this time and the Shines program has prepared us to deliver that service.”
To date, more than 243 Santa Monica businesses have signed up for the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program and over 90 businesses have earned their Santa Monica Shines Assurance Seal with 17% hotels, 49% restaurants and 34% businesses currently displaying their commitment to public safety.
“As a partner with the City on the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program, we conduct an online or on-site walk-through with businesses once they complete the online safety and empathy courses and review the customized COVID-19 Safety Protocols Packet,” said Susy Borlido, Co–Executive Director & Green Business Program Director at Sustainable Works. “We have verified and issued more than 90 Assurance Seals to a variety of businesses including hotels, restaurants, attractions, office, service and retail. Each location displays the Assurance Seal in their window to show employees and guests that they take their safety seriously.”

From big to small, the call is out to all locals to join in to receive the Shine seal and demonstrate to residents, staff and visitors that safety remains our number one priority,” said Misti Kerns, President/CEO of Santa Monica Travel & Tourism. “We are at a critical juncture in the reopening and recovery phase and it’s important that we don’t become complacent but forge ahead for the safety and success of the community and the city.”
About Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Program
The Santa Monica Shines Assurance Program is a free training program for Santa Monica businesses to navigate the changing environment due to COVID-19. The program consists of a modern and effective COVID-19 Safety online course, followed by completion of a safety protocol packet and on-site walk-through with Sustainable Works to offer guidance and support. Businesses who complete the Shines Assurance Program receive a Shines Assurance seal to place in their storefronts as well as free promotion on a number of local channels.
