Juneteenth Ferris Wheel Lights at Santa Monica Pier
This event has expired. Please visit the Events Calendar for current listings.
The Pacific Wheel will be lit red, white, and blue on June 19th to celebrate Juneteenth.
Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) is an annual observance celebrating the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, had established that all enslaved people “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.”
This special light program will run dusk (around 7:30 PM) to midnight. The best views of the Pacific Wheel light programs are from the Santa Monica Pier boardwalk just west of the amusement park or on the beaches south of the Pier. If you can’t make it down for this special lighting event, you can always check out the lights on the Pacific Wheel viewing Pacific Park’s live-streaming webcams.
