The current exhibit at the California Heritage Museum is “Arte Chicano Hecho En Los Angeles,” a retrospective look at the beginning of Chicano artwork in L. A. County, its artists and growth over the past five decades. The exhibition speaks about the important connection between Chicano art and the fight for civil and political rights and the Chicano struggle for “equality” across southwest America.
Artists included within this show are: “Los Four” (Carlos Almaraz, Gilbert “Magu” Lujan, Frank Romero, Beto De La Rocha), Gronk, Patsy Valdez, Willie Heron, Jose Lozano, Margaret Garcia, Francisco Palmares, Leo Limon, Raul Guerrero, Judy Baca, Alberto Oropeza, and John Valadez among others. More than 70 artworks are in this colorful exhibit.
